Invitation to the online workshop "About counselling positively! Higher education counselling (not only) in the Covid era"

On May 25, 2021 we are organizing the 2nd International Online Workshop on counselling “About Counselling Positively! College counselling (not only) in the age of Covid”. This is a follow-up to last year’s successful workshop “Effective Counselling  = Effective Higher Education?”, which received an unprecedentedly positive response.

This time, we are preparing the workshop in cooperation with the Association of Higher education Counsellors, z.s. (AVŠP) and will again be financially supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. In addition to the representatives of AVŠP, international guests from the Technical University of Dresden, ArbeiterKind.de, the University of Innsbruck and the University of Nitra will share their experiences, insights and current consulting projects with you.

The aim of the event is the mutual sharing of consulting know-how and foreign practice. Of course, we will not avoid the current challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to higher education counselling. We will follow the workshop with a study on the current state of higher education counselling in the Czech Republic, which will also be financially supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

In the morning, foreign guests and representatives of AVŠP will present the current state of higher education counselling in individual countries. This will be followed by practical contributions to three thematic blocks, which we have selected in cooperation with members of the AVŠP. For example, TU Dresden will present its innovative concept of the so-called Autumn University, which is designed to enable first-year students to socialise more easily at university; the University of Nitra will introduce its current concept of health counselling, which is aimed at both students and their family members. Among other things, the Nepustit Duši (Don’t Let Go of the Soul)  association and student support groups will present their work. The other presentations will also involve the students to a greater extent, so that they can report from their own experience on how they perceive counselling practice.
